R.I.P. Shannon Stone

Someone just asked me with the recent Orioles vs Yankees game coming up, would I run to catch a foul ball. And I simply replies, "I know that its tradition to go after the ball but I could care less for it. Long as it don't hit me, I'm definitely not running to the edge of a rail to catch a ball. Nah, I'll pass." I know people have been doing this for years but it just looks dangerous to me and I rather not. Especially since people fall over on occasions. Such as recently, a local fire fighter falls to his death while attending a Rangers game with his son. Shannon Stone fell 20feet to his death while attempting to catch a ball hit by Josh Hamilton. Former President George Bush and his wife were at this game. It was a ripple effect of "aweee" and "oooo" soon after Stone went over board. He was conscious when EMTs put him on the stretcher but less than one hour later, he succumbed to his injury. This happened before at the same stadium when a fan plummeted 30feet to the level below him, trying to also catch a ball. He fractured his skull and has since made a full recovery.

I just really hope that people realize the danger in running to the rails for these material items. Life is much more important than a foul ball. My thoughts and prayers are with Stone's family, and his son, who only wanted to enjoy the day with his father, will now have this memory with him for life.
